For more than 40 million years the Earthʻs ocean was full of whales, vast communities of whales, led by elders who were as old as 200 years old. As we learn more about whales it is becoming apparent that they play a critical role in the health of the ocean, and therefore the Earthʻs planetary system - climate, water, food.
This is why I make whales.
My intention with this series is to grow visibility and support for whale communities who are most imperiled. Portion of artist proceeds are donated to non-profit organizations dedicated to protecting whale communities through direct action.
Select pieces are currently available at the Isla of the Wild Micro-Gallery at Asagi Hatchery and at KOBO Seattle.
